Privacy Policy
(Last Updated: August 27th 2007)
If you spend enough time online, you are bound to realize that keeping your personal information to yourself is a formidable challenge. Lunch Hunch tries to make sure we do not add to the complications and in doing so we will make every effort to safeguard your personal information. Hopefully we can explain our policy, and how we protect your information without using complicated legal terms that might just cause your eyes to glaze over. So here goes:
1. We promise that we will never ever sell, trade, give-away, barter, or reveal your personally identifiable information to anyone, unless under the instruction of a direct court order (and even then we will make every effort to not only inform you of this action, but prevent it from happening in the first place). Your personal information includes your last name, your address, and your email. In fact - we so loath the spammers of the world out there, that we have encrypted your email addresses and passwords in our database. This includes any affiliates, partners, lawyers or Indian chiefs - no one will see your personal information.
2. With that being said - Lunch Hunch is a social site. Any reviews that you write become public information. The first name attached to any review is publically viewable, and could in theory be collected by parties outside of LunchHunch's control. As the reviews are considered public information, Lunch Hunch reserves the right to sell or trade this information to third-parties. However as user you can delete you review from the Lunch Hunch directory, and as such we will remove this information from any further transfers.
3. Lunch Hunch requires cookies to function properly. Cookies in general are not malevolent and are designed to better the user experience. The use of cookies allows Lunch Hunch users to avoid repeatedly logging into the site. If you are concerned about cookies, most web-browsers have settings allowing you to disable them - but bear in mind; our website may not function properly for you if you choose to do this.
4. Lunch Hunch may collect non-identifying information such as your browser type or IP address. This helps us deal with diagnostic issues, and helps determine how best to serve our user base. Lunch Hunch may at times decide to alert you to various promotions, events, or new reviews from other users. This is designed to enhance your experience, and expose you to restaurants you may not have previously encountered. If you decide you would rather not receive these messages it is very easy to opt out from your account settings. And that is pretty much the gist of it. We do still retain the right to change our privacy policy at any point when deemed necessary, but we hope that you will trust that the spirit of the site is always one of privacy and respect, and no matter what we will work diligently to uphold that
